Since Doug first began working with the UBC Thunderbirds, he helped develop our confidence in both ourselves and our golf games to the point where they held together under pressure. I was a part of one NAIA Championship team and two RCGA Championship teams in just four years and Doug played a major role in all of these.

In my opinion Doug truly understands what it means to be a coach and teach someone, as he strives to develop a unique relationship with all of his students. Doug also offers a wealth of experience and knowledge that he delivers in an enthusiastic way, because as we all know, golf is a lot easier when you are having fun.

Doug has helped me personally with keeping my golf swing and the entire game simple.

I’m an injured veteran trying to find peace with life changing injuries and struggling to adapt to the new version of myself.

Someone suggested I start to golf again to gain some semblance of normalcy back into my life. So with help from the Invictus Games folks (military’s ill and injured Olympic Games inspired by Prince Harry) and Doug Hastie, I started to golf again after an 11 year hiatus a sport I thought my injuries would preclude me from ever doing again.

Long story short Doug Hastie took me from a nearly broken man to a single handicap golfer in less than a year.

Although my injuries amplify the ebbs and flows of golf, I’m truly grateful for Doug’s dedication to me.

Without going into details about my injuries and conditions I will say this, “Doug’s help as a golf instructor and now friend has literally changed my life and that’s not an over exaggeration.

Another friend and I took a 3 day program with Doug Hastie and I followed that up with several other one-on-one lessons as well.

The results were amazing and within a year Doug took me from baby steps to competing internationally at Canada’s Invictus Games.

Doug Hastie took me under his wing and guided me to a better place in my life and for that I will be forever grateful. His calm and common sense approach can help anyone hoping to advance their game to the next level – thanks Doug!

I have known and had the opportunity to teach and coach with Doug for the past 10 years. He is an expert coach and always learning / striving to improve / fine tuning his teaching craft. He is a great communicator and awesome on the teaching tee and course – where it counts. Doug is one of the best there is in our business. Don’t miss an opportunity to learn and spend time with him.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Doug for over 10 years now.  Doug brings to his role a rich history having worked at one of the finest clubs in the country as a young man under Ben Kern who is one of the most esteemed professionals in the history of the PGA of Canada.  I have had the opportunity to work closely with Doug in his role as an educator for the PGA of Canada where he shares his extensive industry knowledge and experience to the benefit of aspiring professionals.  I have also had Doug as a guest speaker and education facilitator with my own team of professionals as part of the training we offer at our club.  If you are interested in growing as either a player or as an aspiring professional your time with Doug will be a worthwhile investment.

We are both Seniors who thought that we were beyond the age of improving our golf game. We were wrong. Doug took us in hand and, without dismantling our swinging and putting, greatly improved all aspects of our game from driving, woods, irons, chipping and yes, putting. He has a superb talent for quickly identifying problems and for finding the words to correct them. In this, he is a gifted teacher and we recommend him, without reservation. He was also excellent with our four year old grandson.

I have both enjoyed and benefited from Doug’s insight and flexibility as a teacher over the past few years.  His ability to identify my swing inefficiencies and modify his teaching approach to my learning style has given me a greater love for the game and a thrill as I move towards my goals.  His calm demeanour and welcome sense of humour also helps to facilitate a rewarding lesson each and every time.
