Why Lessons?

Golf is not an easy sport. There I have said it. Even great athletes that take up golf find it difficult to be proficient, unless they understand what is going on. No one is a “natural”. In fact, I don’t know what being a “natural” in any sport is. We learn through understanding and relating information to things we already know and we learn a physical skill through repetition.

I want to make it easier for you to have fun playing the great game of golf. I will make sure you understand why the golf ball went where it did, and what you need to do in order to produce different results.I understand that taking lessons at anything can be a little traumatic and being nervous is natural. I strive to make to make the learning environment as comfortable as possible and to make sure that you leave knowing how you are going to improve and what the next step is.

Don’t be that person at the driving range hitting ball after ball, trying something different on every swing to try and find “it”. There is no “it” or secret. Let me guide you to find your golf game and set you on the path to having fun and shooting lower scores.

The Lesson Process

When you come to me for help with your golf game, the first thing I want to do is learn about you.

  • Why do you play?
  • Do you have goals for your golf game?
  • How long have you played and how often do you get out to the course?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses in your opinion?

These are a few of the questions I will ask you in order to formulate a plan. Together we will set goals and a timeline. It could be as simple as saying you want to have more fun on the course to as specific as getting your handicap down to 8 by August 1st. Then we will go over every aspect of your game which could include assessments of your clubs, short game, long game, mental outlook and others.

Don’t worry, I will never overload you with information or make it tedious. Learning should be fun and together we will make it so.
I will give you notes after every session which may include video and will let you know what, and maybe more importantly, how to practice.

I provide a multitude of different lesson formats and programs depending on your time, commitment level and needs. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly to discuss your needs.
